After being assistant coach to the Pirates ladies’ team in 2022, Robert Burgin returns to the club to take on the challenge of this position.
Joining Robert will be his wife Gilmara, who is back for her third year helping the team, 2023 as Co-Coach with first aid and off-field support.
This dynamic duo are currently in England with the Brazil women’s World Cup team – the first team from South America to qualify for the tournament – how incredible is that.
Both Rob and Gill hope to encourage developing players and simultaneously help create a strong culture of competitiveness within the group.
“I’m very lucky to follow in the footsteps of previous coach Scott Christensen, who brought the ladies together and filled them with great enthusiasm for their footy. Though most of my rugby league career has been spent either in Brisbane or overseas, the Noosa crew helped me feel instantly at home when I arrived here, and it’s a big part of me wanting to stay involved.
There is a lot of potential in our current group, and I’d like us to continue to be strong ambassadors for women’s rugby league in the region and attract more ladies, young and old, to play the greatest game of all.” Rob Burgin
Joining Rob for 2023 are:
Gilmara Burgin – Co-Coach and FAO
Jess Goldthorpe – Manager
